boring politics break; for interesting socialite news skip to next post

sorry to break from carly's much more engaging life below, but since it's officially now 07-07-07 (and my dad's birthday, random fact), i felt like including this little tidbit i came across regarding al gore's LiveEarth concerts today across the globe. it perfectly illustrates the hypocrisy of the whole "celebrities really care about the environment" movement...you know, the hollywood set (not you, carly) decrying global warming and pollution and then rolling up to premieres in limousines. and those are not hybrid limos. don't get me started on private jets. using them is fine, just don't claim they're "green."

http://pajamasmedia.com/2007/07/gore_aid.php

excerpt: “When we’re using enough power for 10 houses just for (stage) lighting… It’d be a bit hypocritical,” Matt Helders, drummer of the popular British band, the Arctic Monkeys told the Agence France-Presse.

Most surprisingly, Bob Geldof, the musician and Nobel Prize nominee who founded the Live Aid and Live8 concerts, singled out Gore in particular, asking, “Why is Gore actually organising them? To make us aware of the greenhouse effect? Everybody’s known about that problem for years.”

so why doesn't gore just announce that he's running for president already? or are we all supposed to believe that's not what most of this is about?
